Lions Sign All Pac-12 Offensive Lineman

03/26/2020 10:01 AM

The Columbus Lions have signed former NFL and AAF player Jeremiah “CJ” Poutasi, the team announced Monday.
Poutasi played high school football at Desert Pines High School in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was rated as a 4-star recruit by Rivals and continued his football career in college at the University of Utah.
Poutasi earned the starting job at right tackle for the Utes in his second career college game. He continued to start at right tackle for the remainder of the 2012 season and was an honorable mention for the All Pac-12 team.
The 6-foot-6-inch lineman moved over to left tack in his sophomore season, starting all 12 games at the position for Utah. During the 2013 game versus BYU, Poutasi recorded four pancake blocks and five knockdowns, both of which were team highs that season.
He continued to play left tackle his junior season, where he started all 13 games for Utah, including the Las Vegas Bowl. Poutasi was named as the Las Vegas Bowl “Out-Performer” of the game in the Utes’ 45-10 victory over Colorado State.
Following his junior season, Poutasi declared for the NFL Draft and was selected by the Tennessee Titans in the third round. He was released by the Titans during final roster cuts.
“We are excited to get a player with CJ’s talent, he will be a dominant player in the NAL,” Lions Coach Jason Gibson said.
