The Columbus Lions have resigned their big 6’5”, 225-pound wide receiver Chris Sanders-McCollum. Sanders-McCollum, a Georgia native, attended Creekside High School and earned reputation as a 3-star prospect by ESPN.
He would end up taking his talents to Tennessee State University where he would appear in 41 games. He ended his career with the Tigers hauling in 56 catches for 1,017 yards and 8 touchdowns. Out of college, he would be invited to the Tennessee Titans training camp before being released and finding his way to the Columbus Lions.
Last season, Sanders-McCollum became a big piece of the offense, finishing second on the team in scoring (102 points). He caught 59 passes for 654 yards and 17 touchdowns in 10 games. With Sanders-McCollum returning, head coach Jason Gibson showed his excitement about his receiving core. “Our WR core this year is going to be hard to stop. Chris is a big target and going into his second year he could dominate the league.”
The Columbus Lions open the season Friday, April 17th at home against the defending NAL Champions the Jacksonville Sharks.
