Lions Spend The Day On The Golf Course

09/20/2019 9:48 AM

“The Columbus Lions staffed and sponsored the 5th hole at the East Alabama Chamber of Commerce’s annual golf tournament at Lakewood Golf Course in Phenix City Thursday. A total of 140 golfers on 35 company-sponsored teams passed through morning and afternoon tee times, met Lions defensive back Rico Johnson (U. of Georgia) and mascot “Leo the Lion”, entered drawing for Lions caps and picked up 2020 ticket information. Lions staff mixed, mingled, ate and drank with a “Who’s Who” of the Chamber’s rapidly growing and extensive membership, many of them already Lions ticketholders and sponsors.

“The tournament was won with a 16-under-par score of 54 by Russell County Sheriff Heath Taylor’s team, and the Chamber’s $3,000 golf ball drop (from a CTV-BEAM boom truck) was won by longtime Lions ticketholder Pat Waldrop, owner of Phenix City’s Heritage (Insurance) Agency. Thanks to staffers Wilbert Adams, Alesia Sanders and Gail Thompkins for helping V.P. Sales & Marketing Rick Jacobson man the Lions’ tent all day, provided by Lions’ partner Mike Hall, owner of Phenix Paving & Maintenance.”
