NAL ANNOUNCES WEEK TWELVE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

ATLANTA, GEORGIA – The National Arena League is proud to announce the league’s recipients of the Week Twelve Players of the Week. The league had three outstanding contests from this past weekend, and from those games the following winners for Offensive, Defensive, and Special Teams Players of the Week were selected:

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Derek Ross (FB, Jacksonville Sharks)

With his team in a close matchup against the Dayton Wolfpack thru the first half this past weekend, the Sharks Star Fullback decided it was time to put the team on his back to bring home the victory. The result…a 77-32 final score. Ross finished the night rushing 13 times for 92 yards and four touchdowns, averaging an amazing 7.1 yards per carry.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Logan Ingle (DL, Columbus Lions)

We might as well start calling Lions Defensive Lineman Logan Ingle the “Sack Master” after another dominating performance, this time against the Corpus Christi Rage. With pressure in the back field all night the Columbus star accumulated 7 tackles, 6.5 for loss, to go along with 6.5 sacks and two Quarterback hits. It may be the single most dominating performance on defense of the season.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Spencer Hotaling (K, Lehigh Valley Steelhawks)

For the first time in a long time, someone not named Nick Belcher takes home the Special Teams Player of the Week honor. In a game the Steelhawks needed to win to ensure their teams first ever home playoff game, Hotaling used his strong leg to add much needed points to the board for Lehigh Valley. Hotaling finished the night 7 of 8 on extra points and nailed two deuces, for 11 points, to take home this weeks award.

Week thirteen in the NAL features two games on Saturday night as the High Country Grizzlies travel to Jacksonville to take on the Sharks, and the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks head south to take on the Georgia Firebirds. In the weekend finale, the Columbus Lions will travel to Mexico to battle the Monterrey Steel on Monday, June 12th in a game that has large playoff seeding implications.
