columbus lions logoThe Columbus Lions are seeking qualified individuals to join their championship organization for a unique career path.  The right individual will be able to work as part of a team and be able to complete tasks on their own.Applicants should expect to work anywhere from 20-30 hours per week for internship, and 40+ hours per week for full time employees.  The Lions and the sport industry as a whole requires non-traditional work hours which includes the events (games) which are held in the evenings on the weekend.  Applicants must possess strong organizational and communication skills along with being proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.  A professional attitude is expected and required.  Please see below for a list of available positions.

The Columbus Lions Indoor Football team is located in Columbus, Georgia and a member of the Professional Indoor Football League. We have been providing family-fun and thrilling entertainment to thousands of people since 2008. We are focused on football, community, youth, and our military. We not only provide the community with arena style football, we provide our service, dedication, and loyalty to our fans. We value our community and surrounding areas. The internships listed below have flexible schedules and some work can be done from home. Some weekend work will be required and mandatory based on home games. Some evening work will be required. We will be willing to work with the qualified candidate with their schedule.  Internships offer a specialized development that incorporates realistic career related experience with postsecondary education in an ordered, managed, work environment. To gain superior understanding of your professional field, internships offer degree related experience that makes you more marketable as a job candidate.

Year-round Available Internships:

(1) – Photography, Videography, and Graphic Design
(2) - Business Administration
(3) - Public Relations and Marketing

(1) – Photography and Graphic Design Responsibilities (16 hours minimum per week):

a. Strong organization and communication skills
b. Ability to work independently and as a team
c. Possesss and display a keen and genuine interest in working with people and the capability to interact at all levels of the organization
d. Ability to photograph action shots with your own camera
e. Skill to edit photos in a timely manner
f. Ability to graphically enhance photos and flyers for circulation in the community and online
g. Aptitude to design rough layouts of art and copy regarding arrangement, size, type size, style, and related artistic concepts
h. Obtains approval of photography and art by submitting a rough layout
i. Arrange finished copy and art
j. Prepares final layout by marking and pasting up finished copy and art
k. Add to team effort by accomplishing related results, as needed
l. Assist in all aspects of video and photographic communications and contribute to planning and storyboarding
m. Assist in the complete process from storyboarding to logistics to shooting to editing and publishing
n. Film video and shoot photographs in studio and field environments
o. Record desktop computer screens and actions for demo and training videos
p. Use existing original and stock footage to produce new videos
q. Contribute to mixing and editing to create polished and engaging videos and photographs
r. Publish video primarily to the web and touch-up still photography

(1) – Photography and Graphic Design Requirements:

a. Studio arts and/or Photography knowledge
b. Digital camera
c. Potential to deliver videos and photos that concisely and clearly tell the desired story
d. Talent to deliver videos with cuts, graphics, sound, and other elements that convey a quality production valve and a level of technical sophistication
e. Familiarity and working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Joomla, Virtuemart, HTML, MS Office Suite, Outlook
f. Understanding of digital videography and photography cameras and equipment
g. Possess first-rate written and verbal communication
h. Possess multi-tasking and coordination experience
i. Demonstrate attention to details while maintaining perspective

(2) Business Administration Responsibilities (16 hours minimum per week):

a. Front office duties such as answering phones, greeting customers, and taking payments
b. Assist with brand management and event management
c. Assist with the game day operations at all the home games
d. Assist with planning and coordination of research projects
e. Ability to attend events and meet prominent people in the business and sports industry
f. Assist with business, financial, and inventory management

(2) Business Administration Requirements:

a. Strong organization and communication skills with attention to details
b. You should be eager to provide assistance to the Director of Operations and Events
c. Provide administrative functions as well as personal assistance
d. You must have your own transportation, smart phone, and laptop. A tablet is recommended but not required.
e. You must be professional, punctual, organized, and computer savvy with familiarity of PowerPoint, Word, Access, and Excel.
f. Must be able to adapt to a stressed and fast paced environment
g. Must be able to multi-task
h. Must be able to work independently and with a group
i. Must have a positive attitude

(3) Public Relations and Marketing Responsibilities (16 hours minimum per week):

a. Write, edit, and release press releases and various copies to proper media outlets
b. Aid with mailings and print production
c. Create a media contact database
d. Compile contact lists
e. Search for press clippings
f. Monitor all forms of media
g. Schedule and coordinate speaking engagements, appearances, photo shoots, and other special events
h. Event management
i. Generate traffic to our website and all social media
j. Research, fact check, and collect data for various materials
k. Correspond with the media to pitch stories via email and phone
l. Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet deadlines
m. Participate in brainstorming and strategizing sessions

(3) Public Relations and Marketing Requirements:

a. Possess exceptional written and verbal communication
b. Possess multi-tasking and coordination experience
c. Demonstrate attention to details
d. Ability to work independently or with a team
e. Ability to take on basic public relations writing assignments, and possess an understanding of basic media relation skills
f. Ability to interact professionally with clients
g. Possess and exhibit a strong and authentic interest in working with people and the ability to work together at all levels of the organization
h. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
i. Journalism/PR major or equivalent
j. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and AP Style
k. Knowledge of InDesign and Photoshop preferred
l. Excellent writing skills including syntax, usage, and creativity
m. Understanding of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods
n. Hard worker with problem solving skills, creativity, ambition, and a strong work ethic
